Word: An important supply for canning info is the Blue E book information to preserving. I extremely advocate it for studying the best way to can. Listed here are a few of my different favourite canning books and provides.

*The sauce does thicken up a bit upon cooling. You may place a small quantity on a dish and chill it within the fridge (when you’re cooking the ketchup) to examine the cooled consistency for those who’d like.

My ideas:

The cherry recipes proceed! As longtime readers know, one of many few meals I really despise is ketchup. Candy, syrupy, bland tomato ketchup holds no enchantment. I do prefer to dip issues so I’m at all times a bit unhappy when I’ve say, a tot and nothing to dip him in. Enter the do-it-yourself fruit (and vegetable!) ketchup. Spicier and extra flavorful than its store-bought crimson cousin, it’s welcome on burgers, fries and anyplace you want some zip.

For this one, I paired the candy cherries with chipotle to offer it some warmth and used what I consider as “heat” spices to flesh out the flavour. I really like the end result! A ketchup for adults and complicated youngsters in every single place.

Word: Since this makes a small batch, I made it concurrently the cherry-raspberry jam so I may fill one entire canning pot.
